Early Life

Harold Bob Grey alias Babbi Grey was born on the 4th of May 1982 at the East-End part of Freetown, Kanikay, and Fourah Bay to William Bob Grey and Theodora Omojowo Bob Grey. His father was a very strict elite, a former civil servant, protocol officer, and diplomat from the Furabay Community while the mother came from Cline Town Kanikay. Both parents were the Creole with the Yoruba descend and (slave) English Christian background. Babbi had a good upbringing though there were challenges because of the neighborhood he grew up in. The neighborhood had both positive and negative influences on him which warranted his exposure to a lot of different experiences in life, including sports and Entertainment. Because of his smartness, he was on several occasions favored to represent the said neighborhood on various events. At a very early age, he was taken to the United States where he attended 7th to 9th grade and came back to Sierra Leone to proceed to secondary school. He attended the St Edwards Secondary School in Freetown, and while he was there his passion to make entertainment his career steadily kick Started. His participation in both social and academic activities in the school brought him fully recognized. He was a full-time of the Literary and Debating Society, the drama club ( St Edwards Theatre) under some of the best writers and directors of Sierra Leone such as, the Legendary Charlie Harfner of Freetown Players; who is served as one of his mentors. He was also one of the fastest sprinters and a house captain of his school athletic house, and member of the 4/100 relay team which won almost all the relays they participated in. He went back to the U.S after he completed his secondary school and immediately became the fan’s favorite in the U.S for his talent.

Career

Harold Bob Grey is one of the multitalented Sierra Leone Filmmakers, an activist, actor, TV and radio presenter, and producer. He lived in New Jersey where he represented the Sierra Leone Soccer Team for years since at the age of 18. He also undertook many promotions of parties and showbiz, and which were very well appreciated. He later moved to Columbus Ohio where it was the icing of the cake. He instantaneously became the biggest promoter, Dj & MC. One can proudly say Babbi was one of the pioneers that helped promoted Sierra Leone music and artists in the U.S along with other Afro Beatz. He was able to work with all races, nationalities, and people of backgrounds because he is an extrovert. One of his biggest achievements after learning and mixing with different people he finally came back to the African Community and helped to promote and sell the African culture to America which is one of the strives that popularised Africans across the US. Despite Djing, he never forgot about film making and acting. From 2009 to 2010 he was featured in a film where he portrayed the negative lifestyle of most young African drug addicts and gangsterism in the U.S. He embraced the opportunity and the film ” The Lost Soul” became an instant blockbuster. A year later he returned to Sierra Leone and continued helping in the industry to act and produce films. Babbi Grey has worked with several international actors like Desmond Elliot, Ramsey Noah, Best, Osita, Jmef, Frank Rajah Arase, and the list goes on. He has also appeared in over five international arts which you may have watched on DStv, African Magic, or Iroko. He has as well appeared in most of the best and highest selling Sierra Leonean movies to date. Eg, State Crime, Kassam, Refugee, etc. His movie, TREASURE won an award in 2019. Yes I’m also an award winner, one of the faces of Sierra Leone movie and an He was a TV presenter and producer at AYV TV and Air Radio respectively. He is a brilliant voice actor and has done lots of guest MC appearances. He is certainly considered as one of the multitalented Sierra Leonean actors. He is presently the Public Relations Officer for the Actors Guild Sierra Leone and he is the youth chairman in his community and therefore embarks on a lot of voluntary community work.
