Early Life

Iscandri A. Sankoh is a native of Mile 91 Town, Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, the Heart of Sierra Leone. He was born on the 30th of November, 1986 as the fourth child to mother and sixth child to the father; to Solomon Mohamed Sankoh and Isatu Sallamatu Turay; Temnes by tribe with mother as a medical professional. His mother divorced his father in 1996 and he was brought up by a single mother. Iscandri’s mother gave birth to five (6) children – 3 boys and three (3) girls. Unfortunately, she lost the first two girls.

Iscandri Alimamy Sankoh  came from a Muslim background, his first name (Iscandri) was taken from the Quran and while his middle name (Alimamy) was given to him by his grandfather, Chief Alimamy Sankoh- the first ceremonial chief of mile 91 who died 4 months after his birth.

Iscandri Alimamy Sankoh attended the  Seventh Day Adventist, Waterloo from class 1 to class 3 (1996 – 1998). His family moved to the capital city, freetown when the eleven year civil war broke. He continued his primary education to the   Evangelical Primary School- Upper Melon Street from class 4 to 6 (1998 to 2000) where he became the first primary level head boy. He gained admission at the Albert Academy Junior Secondary School  from Jss 1 to Jss 3 (2001 to 2002).  He proceeded to the Senior secondary school level at one of the best schools in the Municipality of Makeni, the St Frances Senior secondary school, the school of languages from SSS 1 to SSS 3 where he sat to the west Africa Senior secondary school Examination. He furthered the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (MMCET) from 2009 to 2011 and obtained a diploma certificate in Social work. He is presently pursing a degree in Development Studies at The Evangelical College of Theology (TECT) an affiliate to the University of Sierra Leone and other international universities.

Career

Iscandri Alimamy Sankoh is a Sierra Leonean screen writer and Director based in the City of the north, Makeni City. He has directed several social commentary songs and documentaries. He has a diploma in social work which gives him the advantage in writing and directing social change/Human right films, this gentleman serve as head of content for sound and Art for Change (SACh-SL) in 2018/2019, he is also the CEO of summit Empire which is an Entertainment company in Sierra Leone and also the CEO for Faces of the North Entertainment Awards (FaNEA), his latest Movie comes by due to the high demand of the short film “The Victim of society” base on it he decided to write and direct the full length movie with the same title  “VICTIM OF SOCIETY”.

Filmography

He is the winner of the first short film festival in Sierra Leone an award organized by open Yu Yie 2013/2014 with the short Docu-fictional film title “THE VICTIM OF SOCIETY” and also nominated at the first National Entertainment Award in 2017 for the same documentary. This gentleman has five (5) movies in his credit as a director and writer, as below:

  3. Death Trap
  4. Tears of an Orphan
  5. Victim of Society

He has also served as Technical Director in the following movies:

  2. 21 Days
  3. Against My Will
  4. Blood Battle
